Machine-stitched Footwear

Ankle Shoe machine-stitched footwear

Ankle Shoe

800AD to 1200AD
£45.00 adult sizes 4-13
£40.00 adult sizes 1-3
Style Code: DAM

We offer this quite common shoe style of this period in a budget version. It is generic enough to suit most classes of society and covers nearly four centuries in history. It has a 3.5mm (1/7in) thick sole and a drawstring. It is tough but not quite as hard-wearing as our hand-stitched shoes and makes a good starter model.
Colours: varying shades of brown, depending on what I have in stock. Colurs will range from saddle-tan, to medium brown to dark brown. You are welcome to state your preference on the order form and I will try to meet it, but the instant availability of these shoes means that you ought to be prepared to accept whatever colour I happen to have in stock.

Extras

Available with all our Footwear

Heel Cushions (Price GBP 5.00):

These are modern leather covered latex wedges that you can wear inside your shoes. They help to prevent painful heels if you are not used to walking in flat-soled shoes. As they are loose you can order as many pairs as you like to wear with other shoes as well. In this case please specify for what shoe-size you are ordering.

Available with our hand-stitched Footwear

Small Heels (Price: GBP 20.00):

These consist of a 6mm thick leather patch tunnel-stitched to the heel of the shoes. These heels are fully authentic and easily replaceable. We strongly recommend them as they prolong the life of your shoes, especially if you intend to walk on tarmac a lot. Please note that this heel cannot be added to shoes with a triangular heel riser.

Second Sole Layer (Price: GBP 30.00):

This is a second leather sole stuck onto the original sole layer. A small heel can also be added. Please note that this heel cannot be added to shoes with a triangular heel riser.

Vamp-stripes (Price: GBP 20.00):

This is a strip of stitching that runs down the front of the shoe. It looks very elegant, makes your foot look slimmer and many shoes were decorated like that (check the description of your chosen style). The vamp stripes for shoes of the Dark Ages consist of a double row of saddle-stitching in a pale or brown colour. Please specify when ordering or ask us for advice.

Vamp-stripes Extra

Triangular Heel-Risers (Price: GBP 25.00):

This is a triangular extension of the sole that rises up at the back of the heel. It is available only with selected styles of our dark-age shoe range. It is not possible to attach an additional sole-layer to this type of heel.

Triangular Heel-Risers Extra

Colours (included in Price):

These shoes come in three colours: saddle-tan, medium brown and dark brown. Please specify when ordering.
